Colm Burke graduated from University College Cork with a BCL Degree. He studied with the Law Society in Dublin and qualified as a solicitor in 1982.
He is principal of the practice, initially concentrating on conveyancing both in the purchase and sale of residential and commercial property. Over the last 10 years he has mainly been involved in personal injuries litigation. In 2004 he was instrumental in identifying that charges imposed on patients in public nursing homes were illegal and were not covered by legislation. Consequently, the Government was forced to refund the monies to the patients.
Lord Mayor of Cork 2003/2004 having served on Cork City Council from 1995 to 2007.
Member of the European Parliament from June 2007 to July 2009 serving on:
- The Foreign Affairs Committee
- The Sub-Committee on Human Rights
- The Internal Market and Consumer Protection Committee.
